Lubambe copper mine is located within the Greater konkola
Area of Zambia Copperbelt and consists of a large – scale mining license
covering an area of approximately 240 square kilometers. The mine is a modern,
world class facility with fully mechanized underground operations.
Lubambe copper mine is owned by EMR Capital of Australia
(80%) and ZCCM – Investments Holdings (20%).
The mine
currently in a ramp up stage and will ultimately produce 45,000 tonnes of
contained copper and will employ approximately 1,500 people. The plant
infrastructure consist of a concentrator plant, a laboratory and underground
infrastructure, the concentrator incorporates crushing, milling, floatation and
filtration. The design capacity is 2.5 MTPA of ore at an average mill grade of
2.3% copper, yielding 45,000 tonnes of contained copper in concentrate to be
sold to smelters in Zambia.

MANAGER MINE PLANING
This positions reports to the chief mining
Core purpose of the
position
This position is responsible for all mining engineering production
aspects including drill and blast design, production activities and planning,
mining-compliance, monitoring, data analysis and reporting. It also involves
the preparation of project progress claims and variations, production
reporting, productivity improvement and waste minimization initiatives.
Key Performance
Areas/Indicators (KPA/Is)
. Develop detailed and long term mine design which ensure
best utilization of the mineral resource based on survey and geological data supplied
by others.
. Optimize mine design to incorporate update methodology,
reduce development requirements, increase mining productivity and generally
improve the utilization of the mineral resource allocation
. Develop internal and external plans and schedules to
ensure planning Department assists the operation to achieve budget plan and
also update the long-term plans and schedules in line with the mine’s approved
strategy and options. Develop the budget and target schedules for the mine and
expenditures budget for the section.
. Set up and manage planning systems so that production data
is collected efficiently and utilized in the adjustment of the mine design in
order to improve general mining efficiencies and the mineral resource.
. Work within the greater MRM department to assist the
Geology and survey Departments in achieving their objectives.
Professional and
Academic Qualifications:
. A degree or diploma qualification in mining Engineering
with considerable experience in underground mine planning and design.
. Must be a member of EIZ and REB regulations bodies.
Skills and Experience
. 3 or more years working in same role and at least 5 years
working as an underground planning Engineer.
. Additional exposure to micro-station, mine2-4D, mine-cad or
other mine design software would be an added advantage.

. Proven ability to produce short-term mining plans
(sequenced) adhering to the goals of the long term mining plan
. The ability to think outside the box
. A high-level of accountability and requires application of
a range of technical coordination and planning capabilities.
